On the afternoon of November 4, 2015, Vice President Li Shulan attended the 2015 4th Quarter General Assembly of the Quality Brands Protection Committee of China Association of Enterprises
with Foreign Investment(“QBPC”) at invitation and delivered a keynote speech on the operation of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court and its work achievements.
In the speech, Vice President Li Shulan made an introduction of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court from such aspects as its establishment background, organizational structure of a coworking
environment, professional team of judges, centralized management of cases and categorized trial mechanism, judicial exchanges from an international perspective, the measures for transparent justice
through informatization and explorations and innovations in the trial mechanism. Also she offered detailed information about the work achievements made after the establishment of Shanghai IP Court
in serving and guaranteeing the construction of technology and innovation center, promotion of reform of the trial mechanism, and enhancement of the trial influence; about the overall planning
under a professional, international, authoritative, and influential development orientation; about the reform exploration under the principles of professional, innovative, open and integrated development;
and about the proceeding of various tasks under the guidance of the "five ones" development target. The measures taken and the achievements attained were displayed through PowerPoint slides in both
Chinese and the English versions.
After the speech which obtained a warm response from the attendees, Ms Li exchanged with the members of QBPC the issues concerning the ways to take advantage of the dominant role of the
judicial system to protect IP rights, jurisdiction of cases, determination of the compensation amount and the arrangement of technical investigators, and answered the questions raised by them as well.
According to Vice President Li Shulan, one of the developing orientations of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court is to go global. QBPC embraces the membership of an array of well-known
multinational companies. Through communication, it is possible to help those multinational companies have more knowledge of China's judicial protection of IP rights as well as to strengthen the
confidence of the international community in the same issue and create, with joint efforts, a fine atmosphere and legal environment for IP right protection.
