On the morning of April 12, Shanghai Intellectual Property Court held a symposium for releasing the white paper on intellectual property trials and judicial protection, at which 3 white papers and 20 typical cases were released. This was the second time for the court to release white papers and typical cases since its establishment and the first time when two specialized white papers were issued for cases involving technological innovations. The symposium was presided over by Vice President of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court,Li Shulan, attended by more than 30 people including the President of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, Wang Qiuliang, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Zhangjiang High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Xu Jianmao, responsible persons from relevant departments of both sides, and representatives of management organizations and enterprises from "1 zone & 22 parks" in Zhangjiang High-tech Industrial Development Zone. At the symposium, judicial projection of IPR in 2016 and trials of patent cases and computer software copyright cases in 2015-2016 were briefed. Park representatives and enterprise representatives said that the white papers had deepened their understanding of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court and IPR trials in Shanghai, as well as the need to strengthen independent innovation and IPR protection. They would study and make good use of these white papers to strengthen their IPR management and protection.

Deputy Director Xu Jianmao highly praised the work done by Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, and pointed out that since two sides established the cooperation mechanism two years ago, Shanghai Intellectual Property Court has been visiting the parks in Zhangjiang High-tech Industrial Development Zone to provide consulting services, which played a positive role in improving the IPR service mechanism of parks and IPR management mechanism of enterprises. Zhangjiang High-tech Industrial Development Zone will center around the goal of building a globally influential technology innovation center in Shanghai, continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Shanghai courts to jointly create a good innovation and entrepreneurial climate.

President Wang Qiuliang said that since its establishment in 2014,Shanghai Intellectual Property Courthas always adhered toserving the overall situation,upholding fair trials according to law and persisting in reform and innovation. It always adheres to six principles and four policies during IPR judicial protection and strives toexercise judicial poweraccording to law centering around China's national strategy and overall interests, which have been understood and recognized in all aspects. These white papers were issued for the purposes of listening to the judicial needs of the society, responding to social concerns and providing more information on IPR protection for numerous scientific and technological innovation institutions and enterprises. In accordance with the requirements of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee on building a globally influential technology innovation center in Shanghai, Shanghai Intellectual Property Court and the Management Committee of Zhangjiang High-tech Industrial Development Zone will jointly exert the effects of service superposition, function superposition and resource superposition, continue to provide enterprises with guidance and help on IPR management and protection, and actively create a level playing field stimulating innovation.
