On April 21, Shanghai Intellectual Property Court accepted the dispute over invention patent infringement filed by Hu Tao against Beijing Mobike Technology Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "Mobike"). The plaintiff, Hu Tao, claimed that on June 29, 2013, he applied to the State Intellectual Property Office for an invention patent concerning"an electric vehicle control system and its operation methods", which was authorized on May 4, 2016. According to the claims, the electric vehicle control system is characterized in that a QR code reader is composed of micro-camera,graphics decoder, memory and QR code comparator; when the image captured by the micro-camera matches the QR code data stored in the memory after data decoding, the controller controls the electric vehicle to start; when they don't match, the controller controls the burglar alarm to go on. Believing that the technical features of mobikes manufactured, sold and leased by Mobike fell within the scope of protection of its patent, the plaintiff sued to court and requested the court to order the defendant to cease the infringement and compensate for its economic losses.
