On the afternoon of October 27, a 25-person “Training Group for Foreign-Related IP Affairs”, organized by Shanghai Patent & Trademark Law Office, LLC (SPTL), paid a visit to Shanghai Intellectual Property Court (SIPC) to carry out exchanges. The training group, in general, was made up of IP managers, patent consultants from various transnational companies and patent agents from foreign-funded law offices. Under the arrangement of the court leadership, Ling Song, Deputy Tribunal Director of No.1 IP Tribunal, and He Yuan, judge of No.2 IP Tribunal, received the guests. Members of the training group visited the litigation service center and courtrooms, watched an English video about the work of SIPC, and attended a seminar with the two judges. Deputy Tribunal Director Ling provided for the visitors some general information about SIPC, including its institutional structure, jurisdiction, staff, features of IP infringement cases and measures taken for judicial protection. In-depth communication was carried out between the visitors and the two judges on such issues as application conditions for bans before and during litigations of IP cases, determination of the compensation amount for patent right infringement, and the judgment standards for the reasonable costs of right protection.
