On the morning of December 13, the 1^st Symposium on IP Judicial Protection and S&T Innovation was held in Shanghai, sponsored by IP Judicial Protection and S&T Innovation Research (Shanghai) Base of Intellectual Property Department under the Supreme People's Court and Shanghai Law Society jointly and organized by Shanghai Intellectual Property Court. The participants initiated in-depth discussions on such topics as "basic issues of S&T innovation and service invention system", "practical issues related to reward for service inventions", etc.

The symposium was attended by Song Xiaoming, Director of SPC Intellectual Property Tribunal, Lin Guoping, Executive Vice President of Shanghai Law Society, GuoWeiqing, Vice President of Shanghai High People's Court, Wang Qiuliang, President of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, Wang Chuang, Deputy Director of SPC Intellectual Property Tribunal, Li Shulan, Vice President of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, Shi Weidong, full-time Vice President of Shanghai Law Society, and judges from SPCIntellectual Property Tribunal, high people's courts, intellectual property courts, intermediate and grass-roots people's courts, as well as experts and scholars from the State Intellectual Property Office, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University and East China University of Political Science and Law, totaling more than 100 people.

At the symposium, the participants focused closely on implementing the spirits emphasized in the report of 19th CPC National Congressto "strengthen the creation, protection, and application of intellectual property" and the spirits stressed in the first session of 19^thcentral leadership groupfor comprehensively deepening reform to "give full play to theleading role of IP judicial protection, and establish the concept of 'IP protection means protection of innovation'". They also explored the leading role of justice in guiding and protecting the incentive mechanism for scientific and technological innovation professionals and studied how to maximize the leading role of judicial protection from the perspective of practical issues related to reward for service inventions, so as to provide a reasonable, stable and sustainable service invention system for scientific and technological creations.

President Wang Qiuliang and Vice President Li Shulan presided over the opening and concluding stages respectively. Deputy Director Wang Chuang made a summary of the symposium.
