On the afternoon of December 18, Tribunal Director Li Weixin, Judge Peng Hongying and Judge CaiRuqi of Taiwan Intellectual Property Court paid an exchange visit to Shanghai Intellectual Property Court. Vice President Li Shulan welcomed the guests, and Ding Wenlian, Director of No.1 Intellectual Property Tribunal and Qian Guangwen, Director of No.2 Intellectual Property Tribunal attended the discussion meeting. Before the meeting, Director Qian Guangwen showed the guests around the Litigation Service Center and tribunals. At the meeting, the guests watched the feature film of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, while Vice President Li Shulan introduced the organization structure, staff composition, case types, work mechanisms, etc. of the court. Director Li Weixin expressed thanks for the warm reception and introduced the establishment background, functions and current operation of Taiwan Intellectual Property Court. Both sides had an in-depth discussion on the jurisdiction and time limit of trial of cases, duties of expert jurors, appointment of technical investigators, patent validity examination mechanism, public verdict method, pre-litigation preservation, etc. They said that this exchange has enhanced the mutual learning between judicial organizations for intellectual property and among peers across the strait and has broadened their horizons. It's hoped that both sides will further strengthen their exchanges and promote common understanding to jointly raise the level of IP judicial protection in the future.
