On the morning of January 15, Shanghai No.3 Intermediate People's Court (Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, Shanghai Railway Transportation Intermediate Court) held its 2018 annual work conference, attended by all cadres and police officers. Ni Chunnan, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President, presided over the conference. Li Shulan, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President, reviewed and summarized the work in 2017, while Wang Qiuliang, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President, made a report entitled "Strengthen Benchmarking, Build Brand, Create Advantage, and Strive to Realize High Quality Development of New Court" and deployed the overall work in 2018.

In her speech, Vice President Li Shulan pointed out that in 2017, we made new progress in all aspects based on cross functions and proficiency in functions under the strong leadership of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, the supervision and support of relevant departments of Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, Shanghai Municipal Government and Shanghai Municipal CPPCC, and the powerful guidance of higher courts. First, we performed our functions fairly and efficiently and strove to build a good legal environment for the economic and social development; second, we persisted in promoting judicial reform and implemented the reform tasks in an all-round way; third, we further promoted judicial transparency and constantly enhanced the visibility and influence of judicial reform; and fourth, we did a good job in team building and other basic work under the principle ofstrictness andpracticality and with emphasis on details.

President Wang Qiuliang fully affirmed the achievements of all our departments as well as whole cadres and police officers in the past year. He stressed that in 2018, it’s imperative to completely implement the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guidance, follow the spirit of the 11^th Shanghai Municipal Congress of CPC representatives and the Third Plenary Session of the 11^thCPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, grasp new requirements posed by changes in principal contradictions of the society on our work, adhere to demand-orientation, problem-orientation and effect-orientation, insist on judicial fairness and justice for the people, stick to high-quality development, enhance credibility, competitiveness and influence, build innovate development brand, create innovative development advantages, continue to be the vanguard and pioneer in judicial reform and innovative development, and give play to the role of cross-administrative-region court and Shanghai Intellectual Property Court in serving and guaranteeing the construction of "five centers" in Shanghai. President Wang Qiuliang also deployed the work in 2018 from six aspects: 1) recognize the situation, strengthen benchmarking and implement the decisions and deployments of the Central Government and CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee throughout the new court; 2) give full play to their functions and constantly improve the effectiveness of service to guarantee overall objectives; 3) continuously deepen the judicial reform, build development brand and create development advantages; 4) adhere to the principle of justice for the people and advocate the idea of people-centered development throughout the litigation; 5) continuously strengthen the basic work and enhance the level of informational, standardized and scientific management of the court in an all-round way; and 6) comprehensively strengthen strict governance over the Partyand enhance the advanced nature, purity, power to unite, and energy to fight of judicial staff.

At the conference, an oath-taking ceremony for those promoted in 2017 was held, and representatives of prize-winners of the speech contest "See the People Around You, and Tell their Stories" gave their performances.
