Shanghai No.3 Intermediate People's Court (Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, Shanghai Railway Transportation Intermediate Court) and Shanghai Law Society Held a Seminar on Pushing for High-Quality Development of New-type Reform Courts From May 3~4, Shanghai No.3 Intermediate People's Court (Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, Shanghai Railway Transportation Intermediate Court) and Shanghai Law Society held a seminar on pushing for high-quality development of new-type reform courts with ambitious endeavors in the new era, focusing on three topics including the precision of trial management, the standardization, specialization and professionalization of court team and building the project of model cases that targeted at facilitatingthe high-quality development of new-type reform courts.Lin Guoping, the deputy secretary of the Party Leadership Group and the executive vice president of Shanghai Law Society, Sheng Yongqiang, the deputy secretary of the Party Leadership Group and the vice president of Shanghai High People's Court, Lu Weimin, a member of Party Leadership Group and the director of the Political Department of Shanghai High People's Court, Wang Qiuliang, the secretary of the Party Leadership Group and the president of Shanghai No.3 Intermediate People's Court, Mao Zhonghua, the secretary of the Party Leadership Group and the president of Nanjing Intermediate People's Court, and other leaders attended the seminar.Staff of SPC Editorial Departments in charge of China Trial, People's Judiciary: Cases and Journal of Law Application: Judicial Caseswere also invited to the meeting. Leaders at court-level and division-level of Shanghai High People's Court, Shanghai No.3 Intermediate People's Court and railway transportation intermediate courts in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Hefei, Xuzhou were also present. Executive Vice President Lin Guoping and President Mao Zhonghua delivered speeches respectively at the seminar. Lin Guoping said that the topics were very relevant, focusingon the big picture while being down-to-earth. New types of people's courtsshoulder the mission of reform, and call for the support of both top-level design and local exploration. This discussion is designed to provide valuable theoretical guidance and practical reference for the high-quality development of new-type reform courts. Mao Zhonghuaremarkedthat the theme followed the new trends in the new era and Nanjing Intermediate People's Court would actively learn from the results of the seminar. In his keynote speech, President Wang Qiuliang put forward that the connotation and goal of the high-quality development of new-type reform courts was to unify the application of law, establish adjudication rules and guide the social value. We could gain development advantages and build “a judicial brand" in three ways: firstly, to establish a talent poolandstimulate the potential of everyone; secondly, to conduct precision management to test the effectiveness of judicial reform with good effectsand high efficiency; thirdly, to improve the influence and credibility of courts through high-quality trial of cases. Director Lu Weimin pointed out that new-type courtswerethe products of reform, and their high-quality development should be pursuedthrough reform. We should adhere to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to keep the reform of new-type courts on the right track; earnestly strengthen our adjudication ability and strive to build up a standardized, specializedand professionalcontingent of cadres. We should also make efforts to enhance our ability to serve the overall situation to safeguard the construction of business environment, and enforcestrict management to pursue scientific management of new-type courts. Vice President Sheng Yongqiang pointed out that new-type reform courts should be fully aware oftheir functional orientation and constantly contribute reproducible and widely applicableexperiences. Driven by the integrated reform of the judicial system, they should aim for justice and efficiency at a higher level. In addition, they should, guided by the new development philosophy, drive deeper inpromotinghigh-quality development of new-type courts by improving their level of precision trial management, producing model cases, and building a self-disciplined and specialized court team.
