President Wang Qiuliang and Other Three Judges of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court Were Appointed as Researchers of the IP Judicial Protection Research Center of the Supreme People's Court Withthe approachof World Intellectual Property Day, the Supreme People's Court ("SPC") held a discussion meeting on April 23 aboutthe work of IP Judicial Protection Research Center and an academic seminar on IP judicial protection. 70 people from all over the country, including experts, scholars and judges from the IP theory and practice circles as well as figures from the arbitration and cultural circlesattended the meeting. Tao Kaiyuan, SPC Vice president and the director of the Academic Committee of IP Judicial Protection Research Center, issued letters of appointment to the members and researchers of the committee, and alsodeliveredan important speech. The meeting was presided over by Jiang Huiling, the director of SPC Applied Law Institute and the deputy director of the Academic Committee of IP Judicial Protection Research Center. At the meeting, Song Xiaoming, the head of SPC Intellectual Property Division and the executive deputy director of the Academic Committee of IP Judicial Protection Research Center, read out the decisions on the amendment of the articles of association and appointment of the academic members and researchers of the Research Center. Wang Chuang, the deputy head of SPC Intellectual Property Division and the secretary general of the IP Judicial Protection Research Center, summarized the work on behalf of the Research Center and introduced to the participants the theoretical and empirical researches on major topics and the efforts of the Research Center to strengthen international exchanges on IP judicial protection since its establishment more than three years ago. A number of researchers exchanged views with the representatives of the research base and made speeches respectively. Vice President Tao Kaiyuan pointed out in his speech that we must unify our thinking, deeply understand Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and conscientiously implement the Opinions on Several Issues Concerning Strengthening Reform and Innovation in Intellectual Property Trials to promote the ongoing innovation of theoretical research methods, research perspectives and research fruitsof intellectual property rights. We shall adhere to a problem-oriented approach and launch a number of significant theoretical research results that are great concerns to thecentral government as well as the mass publicand are widely applicable. We should broaden our horizons and pay close attention to the key topics on intellectual property rights in the international economy and trade field, so as to contribute to the formulation of more fair, open and transparent international intellectual property rules. All people engaged in intellectual property work are expected to abide by the principles of, as put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping, "righteous cause in our heart, people in our mind, responsibility on our shoulders and connotations in our works", work together to realize the powerful combination of the theoretical research with the practice innovation of IP judicial protection. President Wang Qiuliang, Vice President Li Shulan, Full-time Judicial Committee Member Chen Huizhen and Division Head Ding Wenlian of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court were appointed as researchers of the Research Center.
