On the morning of Aug. 11, some young legal talents of the 2017 “Practice Base for Young Legal Talents of Taiwan” project visited Shanghai Intellectual Property Court (SIPC) to carry out exchanges in the company of relevant leaders of the United Front Work Department and Lawyers Institute of East China University of Political Science and Law. Under the arrangement of SIPCleadership, Ms. Chen Huizhen, Tribunal Director of the No.2 IP Tribunal, and Mr. Shang Jiangang, judge of the No.1 IP Tribunal, received the visitors.
The visiting delegation was made up of 30 students from such universities as National Taiwan University, National Chengchi University, National Chiao Tung University and Soochow University. The students attended a trial of Judge Shang Jiangang, visited the litigation service center and other facilities of the court and also watched a special video of Shanghai No.3 Intermediate People’s Court (IP Court & Railway Court). Afterwards a seminar was held for exchange purposes.
Tribunal DirectorChen Huizhen provided for the delegation some general informationabout the court, like its institutional structure, staff, case types, and work mechanisms, and highlighted the features of the case that had been accepted by SIPC since its establishment and the measures taken for judicial protection. Judge Shang Jiangang shared his experiences and gains in dealing with cases involving parties from Taiwan.
At the seminar, students from the delegation showed an intense interest in IP trials. They actively proposed questions and carried out discussions and exchanges with Tribunal Director Chen and Judge Shang on such topics as judicial protection of IP rights, principles for determining patent right infringement, online case registration and litigation mediation.
