On the afternoon of January 4, a total of 50 teachers and students from the Faculty of Law, the University of Hong Kong visited Shanghai No.3 Intermediate People's Court (Shanghai Intellectual Property Court) to enhance Hong Kong students' understanding of inland judicial authorities and to witness the latest achievements in judicial reform of motherland. Tribunal Director Qian Guangwen, Deputy Director of General Office, Fang Jun, Deputy Tribunal Director Ding Xiaohua, Judge Xu Fei and Judge Zhu Xiaojie welcomed the guests. The guests were shown around the Litigation Service Center and tribunals, and then participated in a discussion meeting. At the meeting, HKU teachers and students watched the feature film of Shanghai No.3 Intermediate People's Court, while Tribunal Director Qian Guangwen introduced the court (Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, Shanghai Railway Intermediate People’s Court)'s organization structure, staff composition, case types and work mechanisms, etc. Both sides exchanged their views on the judicial reform, jurisdiction and construction of cross-administrative-region courts, judge quota system, pre-litigation mediation, accreditation of judge qualification, protection of rights and interests, and other issues. This event was an important part of the Interflow Programme for Teachers and Students from Hong Kong and Inland Universities(referred to as “Ten Thousand Student Interflow Programme”) in 2017. Fudan University Law School was entrusted to invite the students from Faculty of Law, the University of Hong Kong to come to Shanghai for a concise exchange of Chinese law, so as to promote the exchange between teachers and students from universities in Hong Kong and those inland, and to enhance their recognition of inland judicial development.
